More Budget Phones Added to Google’s ARCore Club
Smartphones have become an essential part of our lives, and augmented reality (AR) is the natural evolution of our interactions with them. While AR and virtual reality can coexist, they are different things. While most use cases of AR are silly features like camera filters, some implementations are practical, like Google Maps’ Live View. However, for users to take advantage of these features, their phones need to support them. Therefore, Google is welcoming 17 more devices to the ARCore club, with most of them being budget phones.
Google continuously adds new devices that support its ARCore technology, validating each device individually to ensure it works perfectly to the company’s standards. The newest flagships from Asus, the Zenfone 9 and ROG Phone 6, have recently made the cut, along with these other devices:
- ROG Phone 6
- Asus Zenfone 9
- Honor Magic 4 Pro
- Lenovo Tab P11 Pro (2nd Gen)
- Micromax In Note 2
- Motorola Moto G Power (2022)
- Motorola Moto G42
- Motorola Moto G62 5G
- OnePlus Nord 2T 5G
- OnePlus Nord N20 5G
- Xiaomi Poco X4 GT
- Xiaomi Redmi K50i
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S 5G
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 11T Pro
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 11T Pro+
- Zebra TC53
- Zebra TC58
If your device is listed above, congratulations! It supports ARCore. All you need to do now is update your Google apps and download Google Play Services for AR to start using the new features. If your device is not listed, you should check the full list of supported devices to see if it appears there. Most popular devices like the best Android phones are already on the list; Google occasionally takes more time to include some devices, especially mid-range or budget phones.
