While Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra may have won over many Android fans with its impressive features, its starting price of $1,200 may be too expensive for some. Fortunately, the Galaxy A-series offers excellent mid-range alternatives that get the job done without breaking the bank. The Galaxy A14 5G was well-received last year, and Samsung is now updating one of its other budget phones, the Galaxy A54 5G, set to be available for pre-order later this month.

Samsung has continued to use the design trends seen across all its phone launches this year, with camera protrusions similar to those on the Galaxy S23 series. The Galaxy A54 5G looks remarkably similar to other devices from 2023, albeit customized to a more intense purple for US consumers.
The Galaxy A-series aims to provide users with a great base smartphone experience rather than packing in every possible bell and whistle like the S-series. The Galaxy A54 offers a solid evolution over its predecessor, with an FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, a triple-lens camera setup, including a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 5MP macro camera, along with a 32MP selfie cam. Samsung has also focused on delivering low-light photography with this year’s device.
The Galaxy A54 is powered by the Exynos 1380, which Samsung states, should offer a great balance of performance and longevity, including improved gaming with its Mali-G68 GPU. It comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage, while a 5,000mAh battery should offer ample chance for multi-day use without requiring a charge. Samsung is also providing the A54 with four OS upgrades and five years of security updates, besting the Pixel 6a’s offer.
The Galaxy A54 5G will be available for pre-order from March 30th, with a launch date of April 6th, priced at $450. Eligible trade-ins can save shoppers up to $250. Samsung is also offering a discounted price of $50 for the Galaxy Buds Live for those pre-ordering. UK shoppers can get a free pair of Galaxy Buds 2, but the phone won’t be available in that region until April 25th for £449.
The Galaxy A34 will also be available in various regions, including the UK, with a 6.6″ FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display and a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 processor, at just £349 for the base 128GB model.
