A new 2% alert will give you one last chance to find your charger
Android 14 developer preview is out, and with it comes news about a new battery life feature. When your device reaches just 2% battery life, you’ll receive a “Very low battery” notification. This alert serves as a last-ditch effort to get you to recharge your device before it shuts down. If you’re someone who enjoys living on the edge, this feature may be perfect for you.
Previously, with Android 13, you were sent notifications at 20% and 10% battery, but those may not be enough to prompt you to recharge your device. The 2% warning should give you a few extra minutes to send that last text message and recharge your phone before it shuts down. Check out what the alert looks like:
In addition to the battery alert, Android 14 also includes small adjustments to the media player, improvements to keyboard support, and a new accessibility option that makes your camera flash when you receive a notification. If you’re interested in trying out the Android 14 developer preview, it’s currently available for the Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 5, Pixel 5a 5G, Pixel 6 & 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, and Pixel 7 & 7 Pro.
If you’re not a Pixel user, you can still have something similar to the last-minute battery notification by downloading apps like Battery Alarm from Google Play. Thanks to Nick for the tip.
