Google Account Switcher for Play Store Gets Material You Update
If you are an Android user, it is a good idea to know that the Google Account switcher for the Play Store is getting an update in the form of Material You. This design language unifies the colors from the wallpaper on your phone to create various color themes for app icons, widgets, system UI elements, and app interfaces.
What is the Google Account Switcher?
The account switcher found on most Google apps, including the Play Store, allows the user to switch between different Google accounts they may have. This can be accessed by tapping on the avatar in the upper right corner of the screen.
After the update, the Google Account Switcher will have a lighter-colored background and a darker-colored interior with rounded corners. However, the menu list will remain the same. This update is not yet available for all users since it is still being rolled out gradually.
Android Nearby Share Also Receives Material You Update
The Android Nearby Share feature enables users to share files and apps with other Android phones nearby via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. With Material You, an animated shape expands in the background of your avatar while the app looks for nearby devices. Devices available for sharing are highlighted by a Material You icon. When receiving a large file, a parade of Material You shapes will continuously circle the middle of the panel.
How to Use Nearby Share
The Material You update for Nearby Share can be accessed through a server-side update along with the latest version of Google Play Services. You can find Nearby Share on your Android phone by opening the Files by Google app and tapping on Nearby Share at the bottom of the screen.
