Samsung’s Bixby Voice Assistant Gets Kid-Friendly Profile Feature in Latest Update
Despite Samsung’s lack of focus on Bixby, the voice assistant still has millions of users and has proven to be an able competitor to Google Assistant in some aspects. The newest update to the Bixby app, version 3.3.03.2, now allows for the creation of profiles for children in the family. This feature is currently only available for parents and guardians in the US and South Korea, with a promise to roll out to more regions gradually.
Additionally, the Bixby Wakeup app has also been updated to version 2.2.01.100, which appears to be a bug-fixing update without any changelog listed. It’s worth noting that Bixby stands out from other voice assistants due to its support for a wide range of third-party apps, although Samsung missed some opportunities to market its capabilities.
The removal of the dedicated Bixby button on the Galaxy S10 was another mixed signal from the company regarding the future of the virtual assistant. However, the recent feature additions hint that Bixby is not going away anytime soon. If Bixby isn’t your preferred assistant, it can be disabled on your Galaxy device with ease.
