What to Expect From the Google Pixel 8 Series
After months of leaks and speculation, the Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro arrived on the market and quickly became some of the best Android phones available. However, with those phones now established, it’s time to look at what’s on the horizon for the Pixel series.
Refined Pixel Designs with Some Additional Power Under the Hood
The Google Pixel 8 series is anticipated to include two models, codenamed Husky and Shiba, with leaked display information revealing a possible new design for both devices. Husky may be the Pixel 8 Pro, boasting a resolution of 2822x1344p, while the smaller Shiba has a resolution of 2268x1080p. We may also see a different aspect ratio for a shorter display. Additionally, there are rumors of Google Tensor G3 being tested, which is expected to be based on Samsung’s upcoming 3nm Exynos 2300 processor.
A Complete Camera Overhaul for the Google Pixel 8 Lineup
It’s no secret that the Pixel series is known for its impressive photo capabilities. However, this year’s lineup may feature camera sensor upgrades after two generations. The GN1 sensor currently used in the Pixel 7 may be replaced with staggered HDR support, as seen in the Google Camera Go app. This marks a potential shift to a more hardware-focused approach for the Pixel 8 series.
The First Phones to Ship with Android 14
The Pixel 8 series is expected to launch with Android 14, which developers previewed in February of this year. August is the anticipated launch date for Android 14, with an official build release ahead of the Pixel 8 series for a guaranteed upgrade upon release.
Google Pixel 8 Pricing and Release Dates Remain a Mystery
The Pixel 6 and 7 provided buyers with excellent value on the market, and it is not clear if the Pixel 8 series can maintain these affordable prices. An October release is the most likely possibility for the Pixel 8 series, as Google has consistently announced its devices early in the month before launching them within weeks. However, rumors suggest an early reveal, perhaps during Google I/O.
Pixel 8 & 8 Pro: A New Generation of Pixel
Expect news, rumors, and leaks about the Pixel 8 series, but the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro remain excellent devices with routine discounts. Still, the Pixel 8 series promises to be a new generation of Pixel, and we can’t wait to see how it stacks up.
