“New Clamshell Foldable Teased in Vivo X Flip Leak”

Introducing the Two Types of Foldables

If you are interested in getting a foldable phone, it is important to learn that there are two types available as of now: Flips and Folds. These terms were popularized by Samsung, the manufacturer of two of the Best Foldable Phones out there. The terms have now become mainstream, with almost everyone using them.

Recently, Oppo released its Oppo Find N2 Flip, following the release of Oppo Find N2. Now, rumors suggest that Vivo might be joining the list of manufacturers with a Vivo X Flip. This has been reported by leakster digital chat station over on Weibo.

What are the specs of the Vivo X Flip?

The leaked information includes some of the possible specs and design renders of the Vivo X Flip. Keep in mind that these specs are unconfirmed and could change:

  • A 6.8” OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate
  • Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
  • Equipped with 12GB of RAM
  • 4,400mAh battery with 44W charging speeds
  • Double camera array with a 50MP main sensor and a 12MP, presumably ultra-wide/macro lens
  • Outer display in a square-shaped form factor
  • Side-mounted fingerprint sensor

Although digital chat station is a reliable source of leaks, it is best to wait for an official announcement from Vivo before believing anything. It is interesting to note that the phone’s screen is slightly larger than that of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 when unfolded, and the external screen is square-shaped instead of rectangular.

The 12GB of RAM is certainly more than enough for a decent quality experience, and it is 4GB more than that available on the Z Flip 4. However, the phone is powered by the last generation of Snapdragon flagship processors. While it is still a powerful processor, it could have been better if it was the Plus variant, as seen on Samsung’s competition. However, it could also be the Plus model, as the leaker’s phrasing was not very clear.

Overall, the Vivo X Flip sounds like it may be a solid option if its pricing is just right. But as of now, we will have to wait for more information on this rumored smartphone.
