Samsung has recently announced the release of their latest mid-range smartphones, the Galaxy A54 5G and the Galaxy A34 5G. Once again, Samsung proves to not disappoint with its A-series, as both phones contain impressive specs such as up to 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, 120Hz refresh rate displays, and 5,000 mAh batteries. Moreover, the phones boast good cameras, with the Galaxy A54 5G featuring a 50MP main camera and the Galaxy A34 5G sporting a 48MP main shooter. However, apart from having decent specs, it’s essential for a phone to be durable enough to last a long time.

Is the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G Waterproof?
No smartphone can guarantee complete waterproofing, and the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G is no exception. However, it is IP67-certified, indicating that it is fully protected from dust and capable of being submerged in water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes without any damage. Essentially, the phone can survive accidents such as dropping it in a sink while washing dishes because it’s water-resistant.
Is the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G Waterproof?
Similar to the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G, the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G also bears an IP67 certification. This certification means that the Galaxy A34 5G is protected against dust and can withstand submersion in 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. It’s important to note, however, that even though the Galaxy A54 5G and the Galaxy A34 5G are water-resistant, they should still be kept away from seawater, and it’s not recommended to submerge either device for an extended period.
Understanding IP67 – The Ingress Protection Certification Rating
IP or Ingress Protection certification rating indicates a device’s capacity to endure damage from liquids and small external particles. The first letter in the code rates protection against solids, and the second one rates protection against liquids. A higher number means better protection, while an “X” means that the device hasn’t been tested for that specific protection. With an IP rating of 6 for protection against solids and 7 for protection against liquids, the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G and the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G can withstand dust and water at depths of up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. However, the highest rating for protection against liquids is 9, which signifies that the device can endure high-pressure and high-temperature water jets without any harm. Even high-end smartphones, such as the iPhone 14 and the Galaxy S23, only have an IP68 rating, which means that they are fully protected against solids and can withstand submersion in up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for 30 minutes.
