Sony’s Upcoming Premium Earbuds: WF-1000XM5
It has been reported that Sony is currently developing a new pair of premium earbuds, the WF-1000XM5. Recently, we had the opportunity to see what they look like thanks to a set of leaked pictures showcasing the earbuds’ outer and inner design, as well as the charging case.
The Earbuds’ Design
The photos provided by The Walkman Blog revealed that the WF-1000XM5 earbuds will come in a smaller size compared to their predecessor, the WF-1000XM4. The earbuds’ housing is made of shiny black plastic and features a proximity sensor and microphone similar to other earbuds available in the market.
Furthermore, the upcoming earbuds will have a touch panel on the top side, but there isn’t much information regarding their technical specs.
The Charging Case
The charging case, on the other hand, comes with a different form factor compared to the previously leaked image from the FCC. Instead of being square, the picture released shows a rounded case. The new case also features improved recharging support with 5V 230mAh compared to its predecessor, the WF-1000XM4, which only has 5V 140mAh. This update should enable faster recharging time for the earbuds.
Additionally, the LED indicator on the charging case is repositioned from the inside front to the outside, according to the leaked pictures. The WF-1000XM5 charging case will also come with wireless charging support, similar to the previous earbud model.
Release Date of WF-1000XM5
There is no official announcement from Sony regarding the release date of the WF-1000XM5. However, since the earbuds are in the process of receiving certifications, it is anticipated that they will be launched soon.
